Day 2 February 23, 2019 – Honolulu – Blue Hawaii Tour – Ship Embarkation
Rise and Shine, it’s Hawaiian time!  Today begins with an Elvis breakfast at the Hard Rock Cafe.  Enjoy a great buffet listening to Elvis tunes and pay special attention because his Ramirez Classical Guitar is hanging on the wall.

Next is a half day tour of all things Elvis.  You follow in his footsteps, feel his presence as you see the sights of Honolulu.  On this morning’s tour you will see statues to a pair of King’s.  King Kamehameha and the King of Rock n’Roll whose life-size bronze likeness was erected 30 years after his death. You’ll see the Hilton Hawaiian Village where Elvis stayed on his first visit in 1957 (before Statehood).  He had a 20 year love affair with the islands filming three movies “Blue Hawaii,” “Girls! Girls! Girls!” and “Paradise Hawaiian Style” There were also many live performances including the 1973 live broadcast “Aloha from Hawaii,” seen or heard by over 1.5 billion people in 40 countries.  Song’s included “Blue Suede Shoes”, “I’ll Remember You,” and “Johnny B. Good.”

From his concerts to movies, Elvis had a rich relationship with The Islands and we are excited to show you the sites where he performed and filmed, and tell you the tales.  You’ll visit Hanauma Bay Natural Preserve where he filmed the movie “Blue Hawaii.”  You will see the sites of Waikiki, drive through the rainforests, to the clifftops for the same incredible views that Elvis loved.

At lunchtime you visit La Mariana, the last of Honolulu’s original Tiki Bars.  It is almost a museum, tiki memorabilia on the walls give it a timeless charm, a 50’s ambiance.  While here during lunch an Elvis Tribute Artist will actually pop-in for a few songs.  In this setting of the old-tiki bar with Elvis serenading your group, you’ll get the feeling as though you have time-warped to a moment in an old movie.

Today’s tour will end at the Honolulu Harbor where you embark on the Pride of America. Seven Days. Four Islands. This is one amazing itinerary – offered only by Norwegian Cruise Lines.  You will have nearly 100 hours in port, you can capture the pure spirit and soul of Hawaii each and every day.  As you journey from one exotic island to the next you learn about Hawaiian culture through the eyes of native ambassadors.   You will find a complimentary help-yourself- cafe available for dining every day as well as several Specialty Restaurants where you can enjoy exotic meals for a nominal charge.

You will also find wonderful choices in entertainment, from Stand-up Comedy in the Hollywood Theater, to Magicians, to the White Hot Dance Party on the Pool Deck.  Then there are two marvelous Stage Shows: “Rock-A-Hula” Norwegian’s very first musical comedy, and “Oh What a Night” featuring the music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons (subject to change).

Your ship sails tonight at  7:00 pm and the good times begin. (B,L, D)

Day 3 February 24, 2019 – Kahului, Maui – Free Day
This morning arrive on beautiful Maui for a two day stay.  Arrival is at 8:00 am and you stay until  6:00 pm tomorrow.   Maui is the 2nd Largest of the Hawaiian Islands and locals say “Maui no ka oi” — it’s the best, the most, the top of the heap. It has a surplus of natural splendor with miles of perfect beaches, lush green valleys, volcanic landscapes, plus fascinating history in the whaling town of Lahaina.  It’s beauty, rich culture and warm hospitality have helped to make it Hawaii’s second most popular island.

Day 4 February 25, 2019 – Kahului, Maui – Haleakala House of the Sun Tour option
This morning, you have an option for a private tour titled, “Haleakala The House of the Sun.”  You travel past sugar-cane fields, through Hawaiian cowboy country (Paniolo),  up beyond the protea farms of Kula,  then above the tree line to where cacti and rare Hawaiian silver swords grow and finally to very crest of Haleakala at over 10,000 feet.    In Hawaiian folklore the crater at the summit of Haleakala was home to the grandmother of the demigod Maui, legend has it that she helped him capture the sun and force it to slow its journey across the sky in order to lengthen the day.  It is a view to behold. (B,L,D)

Day 5 February 26, 2019 – Hilo, Hawaii – Volcanoes National Park Tour option
During the night as you danced and dined, your ship sailed to Hawaii, the Big Island.  Here we recommend you include the Volcanoes National Park Tour where you will feel a sense of awe at Mother Nature’s unrivaled power.  From the molten magma flowing from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park to the snow-capped heights of Mauna Kea;  from the green rainforests of the Hamakua Coast to the jet-black sands of Punaluu Beach; The Island of Hawaii serves as a testament to nature’s power.

The ship docks at Hilo this morning and you have a private tour of Volcanoes National Park.   Also, explore more of Hilo’s surroundings, including Akatsuka Orchid Nursery and Rainbow Falls, a tropical rainforest wonder plus there is a stop at the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Factory.  (B,L,D)

Day 6 February 27, 2019 – Kona, Hawaii – Free Day
Today enjoy free time on the Kona Coast, the west side of Hawaii.  You’ll have the opportunity to explore Kona Town. You can stroll Ali’i Drive’s historical sites, such as Ahu’ena Heiau-which was once King Kamehameha’s place of worship, Hulihe’e Palace-used by royalty as a vacation home but now a museum with many ancient Hawaiian artifacts, and Mokuaikaua Church, which is the site of the first Christian church built in Hawaii.

You might also want to snorkel amongst a kaleidoscope of tropical marine life. Take a surfing lesson, a kayaking trip or head out to deeper waters for some deep-sea fishing. (B,L,D)

Day 7 February 28, 2019 – Nawiliwili, Kauai – Waimea Canyon & Fern Grotto option
After breakfast this morning there is an another great tour we recommend it climbs the mountain to the 3,400 foot level and you enjoy the overlook ino Waimea Canyon, the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific.”  Along the way you get a visual history of Old Koloa Town (Hawaii’s first sugar cane plantation) and Waimea, the little town that grew up where Captain Cook first set foot in Hawaii (1778).   Then you cruise down the Wailua River to the famous Fern Grotto.  Here you listen to the Hawaiian Wedding Song with sounds that seemingly accompany the scenic nature of the moment.  This tour makes another stop before returning the ship, you will see the 151 foot tall Opaekaa Falls, in full sunlight the water sparkles from the volcanic basalt cliff that it falls from.

This afternoon you return to the ship.  This evening is your optional Luau if chosen.  A grand celebration of food, entertainment and Polynesian culture at sunset.   Hawaiian luau tradition begins with a kalua pig cooked in an imu (earth oven), with haupia (coconut pudding) and poi (Hawaiian taro starch).  Then under the stars you have witness a live music performance of the hula – it can tell stories of Kauai, or showcase dances from across Polynesia, like the frenetic Tahitian dance or the thrilling Samoan fire-knife dance.  (B,L,D)

Day 8 March 1, 2019 – Nawiliwili, Kauai
Enjoy today at your leisure in Kauai.  The ship departs at 2:00 pm this afternoon you sail past a scenic coastline, it is wonderful to enjoy a Pina Colada on the deck as the mountainous  coast of Kauai floats away in the distance.  (B,L,D)

Day 9 March 2, 2019 – Return to Honolulu – The Story of Elvis & Pearl Harbor – Airport Transfer
Today you will say good bye to the Pride of America.  Upon disembarkation you will be met by another private coach and begin the Story of Elvis & Pearl Harbor tour.  This of course is focused on the Japanese attack on Dec 7, 1941.  The story of what FDR called a “The Day of Infamy,” is well documented and you will learn about the destruction of the Pacific Fleet and the sinking of the USS Arizona.

You will also learn how in 1958 President Eisenhower signed a law that allowed government fundraising for a monument, and how those efforts failed to achieve their goals.  Then how on March 25, 1961, shortly after serving his tour of duty, Elvis returned to Honolulu.  He brought with him Floyd Cramer, Boots Randolph, Minnie Pearl and other Nashville performers all of whom he made buy a ticket before they could perform.

When he took the stage hundreds of teenagers screeched in excitement.  He let out a brief screech of his own in response before launching into his hit “Heartbreak Hotel.” All accounts state that Elvis was in peak form, giving an enthusiastic and energetic performance that included favorites “All Shook Up,” “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Are You Lonesome Tonight” and “It’s Now or Never.” He finished the show with a rollicking version of “Hound Dog.”

The benefit was a resounding success. Ticket sales (including a large donation from Elvis) exceeded $60,000. The electricity of Elvis jump-started the fundraising campaign and money needed to finish The Arizona Memorial began to flow from other sources.

This day’s tour which is scheduled to fill your time before afternoon and evening flights to the mainland also includes a visit to the USS Arizona Memorial, as well as a tour of the Battleship USS Missouri, the Punchbowl Cemetery and other Honolulu Sites.

At 3:00pm your motorcoach will bid you Aloha at the airport for your afternoon or evening flight back to the mainland. (B)
